Joao de Deus - the miracle healer Joao Teixeira
de Faria
|
|

 |
|
Joao Teixeira de
Faria, lovingly known as Joao de Deus or John of God, is without doubt
one of the most powerful spiritual healers of our time.
He has been
visited by thousands of people from all over the world during his 40
years of dedication to his work. His healing success with cancer
patients, drug addicts, HIV patients, illnesses such as blindness and
other physical or psychological problems have been described in many
books. He cured illnesses deemed incurable by the so called school of
western medicine.
|
|
| |
John of God is an
unconscious medium. He has the gift of being incorporated by over 30
different entities that work through him. He is unable to recollect his
activities while incorporated. The entities scan those seeking help in a
brief moment and prescribe what needs to be done. It could be taking
herbs or a spiritual operation, a crystal bed session, a visit to the
waterfall or anything else. Often his answer to people’s questions or
petitions is "corrente", which is an invitation to sit in the meditation
room.
|
|
| |
Joao and his co-workers emphasise the importance
of taking responsibility for our own healing next to the treatment we
receive from the entities. The aim is to reach a balance and become
peaceful within ourselves and with our neighbours, as well as perhaps
changing an unhealthy lifestyle and work toward a more positive approach
to life.

"Forgive and forget .... and love" -
hundreds of people walk to the casa from Wednesday to
Friday, when Joao is working at the casa. He never leaves before he has
not seen the last person. Without tiring he offers his body to the
entities who so answer all the questions and perform up to a hundred
spiritual operation per day.

 |
|
| |
Joao treats each person the same whether it may
be Shriley MacLaine seeking help or a spiritual healer like Ram Dass or
a destitute. Everyone will have to wait for his/her turn and no one has
yet been turned away. Joao is a catholic, however, the people’s religion
and culture do not matter, on the contrary, everyone is welcome - the
common denominator is LOVE.
|
|
| |
Joao does not ask for money and most of the 250
co-workers at the casa are volunteers.

"I am but an
instrument is God’s holy hands".
The story goes that John of God was born the son
of a tailor, June 24, 1942
in a small village in central
Brazil.
Since childhood he had special abilities and a strong will. Due to his
rebellious behaviour he only attended school for four years.
|
|
| |
At the age of 16 he took on his first job as a
tailor. However, for unknown reasons he was terminated that same day. He
travelled to a river to wash off all his sorrows and worries when Santa
Rita appeared to him. She told him to go to a spiritist centre in town
and that he was expected there. John followed her instructions and after
introducing himself he became unconscious. A few hours later, upon
awakening, he apologised for his "behaviour".
|
|
| |
An elderly member
of the centre explained that he did not fall "unconscious" but that the
entity King Solomon had incorporated him healing many people and
performing numerous operations. John thought that it must have been a
mistake but after a meal together and some discussions John became
thoughtful and asked: what if this was true?
It was thus that
John of God began his spiritual work. He lived his life as a wanderer
travelling from town to town, healing the sick. He lived off the
donations he received. The police persecuted him with threats and arrest
because he operated without ever studying medicine. Nevertheless, he
never forfeited his mission; he continued to heal people who were
looking for his help. He even healed his persecutors "incurable
diseases" and when doctors or the police came to seek his help he healed
them as well.
